A Day In The Life Of M.Deezy

01172011 (Hawaii x Common)

First off, I just wanna give the BIGGEST shout out to the homegirl Stace!!! Thanks for making my trip one I’ll never forget!

This year is kickin’ off pretty nicely for me so far, and I hope this is just the beginning of my travels. Got a chance to get away to Hawaii for a couple days, and it was beyond what I imagined it to be. I had so much fun, it was almost retarded. Against what everyone else was telling me (that it was gonna rain), I was still stoopid excited to go and someone must love me because they brought the sun x bomb.com weather! After graduation, I’m definitely considering waving goodbye to Cali if it means I can find a job in Hawaii… Anyways, enough of this monologue bullshit… LET’S GO!!!

PlayMe: I just wanna….. BE!

That’s what I’m talkin’ abouuuuut!!

Packin’ to head to the beach!

Stopped off for some breakfast at Boots & Kimo’s for some of the best pancakes I’ve ever had… Of course, I had a side of Guava juice to go with it.

Macadamia Nut Pancakes. Nuff said.

Maui Wowie Omlet. Also… Nuff said.

OK OK OK… fo’real, now we’re in route to the beach.

At this very moment, I remember feeling so stoked because it’s been years since the last time I got to dig my feet into the powder sand… it’s GO TIME!

Thanks for letting me borrow your fisheye, Stace!!

I am fully convinced that I want one naooo! Fisheye has just got bumped up on the wishlist kekeke.

Can I live here forever?

In route to another beach. That’s right… we went beach hoppin’…

Pit stop. Oh, it’s just the Dole Plantation…

I can’t believe I hesitated to get this… Best investment of the day! Well no… but it was a good one because it was filled via Dole Float muhahaha!

Not ready for picking yet… Almost!

Goddamn! Fishys!!!

Headed to Turtle Bay Resort to hang out for a bit… Does this place look familiar?? Forgetting Sarah Marshall when Aldas Snow was leaving and Peter was all giddy because he had just banged Rachel Jensen the night before, LOL . This place was gorgeous!

So I was informed that the shrimp truck that I found was garbage (via Stace), so she took me to another shrimp spot and umm… I almost died. In a good way.

Sat back after the meal and cooled out to a Mai Tai x cool breeze x Hawaiian sunset. Jealous???

Chasing the sun!

Fuckin’ Madasalas… so damn good. Best donut holes I’ve ever had.

Bubbies Mochi!!! It was sooo good, I bought a t-shirt, lol.
And that pretty much concludes my first full day in Hawaii.

Jump start the shit outta my day!

Stopped off at Iyasume to load up on Spam Musubis before some epic-ness in a little bit.

How much do I love Spam Musubis?? Well, I bought a bag… don’t hate.

Musubi bag to carry my Musubis.

I was just poundin’ them bitches back!

Hiking to find dinosaurs.

So… Much… Green…

And we’re off!!

Walkin off my breakfast…

Bamboo forests are so cool…

Oh motherfucker…

Heading to find the waterfall!

Success!!! It was everything I imagined and more 🙂

In this next segment, before you start wondering what’s going on here… I was trying to be one with nature, hahaha.

I am… waterfall.

I am… Tree door walkway thing.

I am…. Bamboo. LOL this is my favorite one.

And now we continue the rest of our hike…

The journey back down was faster than going up, but also… more dangerous. I butterfingered on a couple rocks on the way down. Scary shit.

Sharon trying to catch a fish… Check out the dedication, hahaha.
Hello my “Polynesian” friend!!

Epic… I love nature hikes!

The perfect way to end our hike. The Azuki bowl definitely made my jiggly legs feel better. Hands down, the best shaved ice I’ve ever had. Sorry Icee… I still love you.

In between this time, we actually went to get some Poke and headed to the beach to fry a little more, but I don’t have pics of that… After headin’ home to shower and prep, it was time for the main event.

Why, thank you… I thought it was a pretty awesome shot myself.

The roof was pretty much blown off once Common hit the stage. I actually got a butt load of pics but these were my favorite ones. Actually, I have more favorite ones, but I didn’t wanna be repetitive. What was I doing aside from shooting during the concert? WILDIN’ THE FUCK OOOOOUUUUTTT!!! This concert was bananas good!! All classics with some new shit! Just to name some of the songs he did:

  • Be
  • Go
  • Testify
  • Love Is
  • Chi City
  • The Food
  • They Say
  • I Want You
  • The Light (of course)
  • UMC (Universal Mind Control!!!)

I still get shivers thinkin’ about the concert. Common live = the bees knees!!!

Well that pretty much concludes my trip. The whole thing definitely wasn’t long enough… So much more I wanna do in Hawaii, but that just gives me an excuse to go back again this year. Anyone care to join next time??

Good night!!

  2. Wow, I’m am SO JEALOUS! I’m so tempted to apply for grad/med school in Hawaii just so I can actually live in Hawaii, lmao.

The following is a long-ish comment response because I was typing them while I was reading this entry.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is one of my favorite movies, haha. My favorite scene was when Peter was talking about how he has the ‘freshest cereal’ because of the cereal container that Sarah bought him. I have the same cereal container!…but I bought it first, lol.

Haha, you’re so tourist. You bought a dole pineapple mug, mochi shirt, and spam bag. The spam bag is really cute though.

Do those friends of yours live in Hawaii? Or were you all on a vacation?

How’d you get away with shooting photos at a concert? I know small P&S are usually allowed, but it seems like you used an SLR for those.

i’m honestly thinking about finding a job there when i graduate, haha so i’ll meet you there?

don’t be sorry for long comments, they’re always encouraged!

before i took off for my trip, i literally watched that movie like 5 times, lol! i LOOVE that movie!! i liked his dracula musical that rachel made him perform on stage.

in the beginning, i repressed my urge to wanna be a tourist, but as you can see, that didn’t last very long. people actually asked me for directions and i was thinking to myself, “do i look like a native??” then i looked at my tan and was like, “ok nvm…”

my friends in the pics live there! the one in blue, i’ve known since HS and she moved there for school… so /ahem!!/ go karen!!

apparently, hawaii is pretty chill with their photo rules. i just had my SLR in my messenger bag and no one said anything to me. i just walked in. i was holding a beer and checking while there were multiple signs that stated “no drinks beyond this point” hahaha.
